Summer is a great time for hitting the open road, heading off to a warm, sunlit destination or seeing family and friends. Here are some summer safety and comfort checks you should never pass up before that summer road trip:

1. Tire Check - Hot summer roads are tough on your tires and running them underinflated or with existing heat damage can put you on the side of the road in unfamiliar territory.  We will check your tires for abnormal wear, heat cracks, tread separation and road damage, then fill them to the proper pressure for your trip.  If it's been a while we may also suggest a tire balance and rotation to smooth out your miles and extend the life of your tires.

2. Fluid Check - Seasonal heat can degrade motor oil, put your engine coolant to the test and push your brake and transmission fluids to the limit.  We will check all your car's fluids to make certain they are clean and working effectively, top off as necessary and let you know if a change is in order.

3. Visibility Check - It's hard to enjoy your road trip if you can't see the road,  Worn out wipers, cloudy headlights and bad bulbs can make a long trip hard on your eyes and can be a safety hazard.  Don Duncan's All American Auto & Tire techs can restore oxidized headlights, swap out wiper blades and make sure all your lights are shining bright.

4. A/C Check - Let's face it, a summer road trip is lots more fun if you and your passengers are comfortable.  Nobody wants to arrive at a summer destination hot and bothered by a weak air conditioning system.  We will verify that your A/C system is working right and add Freon, if needed, to cool you down for the long haul.

5. Belts, Hoses and Battery - These essential components under your hood are highly susceptible to wear and tear caused by heat exposure and any one of them can abruptly end summer travel.  Most of these parts are inexpensive to buy and have installed.   A little preventive maintenance will help you reach your destination.
