Keep Dad Cool This Summer With A/C Service

posted on

Nobody likes  driving around in a hot, stuffy car, and you know that Montgomery, AL is going to start getting pretty doggone hot before long. And Father's Day is Air Conditioning Repair in Montgomery AL right around the corner, too...why not go ahead and have the A/C serviced on his car before the temperatures start to climb? At Don Duncan's All American Auto and Tire Center, we're offering a $49.95 comprehensive A/C service special to get Dad's car ready for summer!

The A/C system in your car works pretty much the same way as your refrigerator at home -- a gas is compressed into a liquid, and it then evaporates into a gas again, providing cooling as it evaporates. Your refrigerator, however, isn't subjected to the vibration, heat and other extremes that an automotive A/C unit sees. Since the tubing, lines, gaskets and O-rings of an A/C system are rubberized and somewhat porous, even a late-model car can lose five to 15 percent of its refrigerant over a year's time.

In most cases, all that's required is a recharge of the system's refrigerant; we use a refrigerant that includes oil to lubricate the compressor, as well as a fluorescent dye that makes it easy to spot leaks around seals or lines.

These are all signs that Dad's car is in need of A/C service:

-- Musty or dirty-socks smell from A/C vents

-- A/C that's barely cooler than ambient air outside

-- Air conditioner blows cold only when the car is moving, not while idling or parked

-- Metallic clicking from under hood while A/C is running, which means the system is low on refrigerant and the compressor's magnetic clutch is cycling it on and off

Running an air conditioner that's low on refrigerant is more than uncomfortable -- it can actually do damage to your car's A/C system. Don't take that chance -- schedule an appointment with Don Duncan's All-American Auto & Tire Centers and let us make sure that the A/C in Dad's car is ready for summer.
